Black & White

- Jacky Cheung
from Jacky Cheung Black & White Compilation Album

I read the booklet that comes together with the compilation the other day. This one caught my attention the most lah...

Oh yeah, my friends gave me this compilation as a gift from Hong Kong. They went to Hong Kong for 2 days after the event at Macau. How sweet of them!

This is my first original CD/DVD for Jacky Cheung~! I like it so much, I'm gonna rip it and keep the original CD/DVD in a very safe place ^_^

29 Days Later...

Sounds creepy right? especially when it sounds like the movie "28 Days Later"... Haha...

So, it has been 29 days since my 30-day Low Carbo Diet... what did I notice?

- When I lift my hand up, I can see my ribs (just like 4 years ago)
- When I run, my pants feel like falling
- My wrist is thinner
- And my friend who just came back from a 9-day Macau trip said, "Andrew! You look thinner!"

Haha... I doubt I weigh lighter... but at least I look thinner a bit lah...

Tomorrow is going to be the 30th day... I think I'm going to continue for another 30-day of Low Carbo Diet... I wonder?

---------------------------------------------------

Latest Update

I had insomnia... My head is full of things to think... and when the time is 2am, I'm still fresh! I only sleep at 3.30am these few days... woke up at 8.30am and felt like I have been working all night....

26 Short Messaging System Per Day

I did a clean-up on my mobile phone 2 nights ago and I found out one surprising phenomenon.

I had 2952 sms-es in my sent mailbox. Yes, I am able to save so many sms-es because I am using a PDA Phone. That 2952 sms-es are all sent within approximately 3.5 months.

In average, I sent 26 SMS messages per day. That is like 1.x SMS messages per hour.

If I send 26 SMS messages per day, that will make 780 SMS messages per month and 9360 SMS messages per year! Only 1 person... Imagine all 27 million people in Malaysia, each send 15 SMS messages per day.

1 user
15 SMS per day
450 SMS per month
5400 SMS per year

27 million users
145800 million SMS per year!

Wow... RM0.01 per SMS... how much is that?

But then of course not all Malaysian send SMS everyday...

Boleh-Land Story vol.1

Many students, in fact most of them, are attending tuition classes. The time they spend on tuition classes are way more than the time they have for leisure as well as other extra curricular activities!

I still remember when I was in Primary School. I attended tuition classes for Bahasa Malaysia, English Language, Mandarin, Mathematics. I have no time to play but my results for UPSR is superb!

I took up Malay, Mandarin, Maths (Additional Maths and Modern Maths), Physics tuition when I was in Secondary School. I remembered I asked my mom if she ever when for tuition classes when she was studying. She said, "No" and yet, she was the top student back then.

I wonder what happened? I was too busy going for tuition classes, I had no time to think.

When I was in college, I had no tuition at all. Why is that?

I read this article on TheStar Online today.

----------------------------------------------
Tuition raids affect students

PETALING JAYA: Public examinations are around the corner, but there will be added strain for many students nationwide when schools reopen this week because of the sudden closure of their tuition classes due to a clampdown.

http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2007/8/26/nation/18700064&sec=nation
-----------------------------------------------

I once thought that teachers that conduct tuition classes and earn big money doesnt really perform well in school as they are only getting "that much" of money from the Gov. Teachers that conduct tuition classes make big money. Yes, my tuition teacher changed his car once every 3 years. Believe it or not! How can one, that is depending on Gov's salary, get so much money to buy new car, if not because of extra tuition classes?

Why parents send their kids for tuition? That is helluva extra money to pay. I read this article today from TheStar Online too...

----------------------------------------------
Counting on the tutors

Is tuition a necessity? Is the hassle worth it?

“We don't want them to be left behind. Tuition helps,” she replies.

While many have criticised teachers for giving private tuition at the expense of their duties at school and for commercialising education, there are also many parents who depend on tutors for their children's grades.

Caroline Ong, who questions the competency, if not dedication, of some teachers in school, shares that her son’s teacher is incompetent.

“My son did not complete some exercises in his school workbook. I asked him why he did not ask his teacher for help and he replied that he did ask but the teacher said she didn't know how to do it either.

Read more here... http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2007/8/26/focus/18698628&sec=focus

----------------------------------------------

See? Caroline's son is not lazy. It's the son's teacher that is incompetent. A teacher that does not even know how to solve the student's problem? It's school work, not personal counselling?!

It's ok if you a family has only one child. It will be crazy if a family has 3 or more children studying at the same time. One family has to set aside a minimum of RM200 per month for a tuition fee of 3 children, for 3 subjects. Tuition fee can go as high as RM500 per month if more subjects are taken or personal tutoring is engaged.

Have you guys see the connection here?

a. Incompetence of a teacher will lead to parents sending their child(ren) for tuition classes.
b. Tuition classes needs money. Thus parents have to find ways to make more money.
c. When parents are busy looking for money to support their children's tuition fee, they have less time for family.
d. Children do not have time to play or learn other skills. Childhood wasted.
e. Children that have not much attention from parents will try to do things to get attention (drugs, gangsterism...)
f. Parents that cant find enough money to support the tuition fee will be frustrated and will be in bad temper.
g. Even if they are in good temper, they will have to withdraw their children from tuition and thus cause their children's results to be worsen
h. Children that has bad results will have low self esteem and thus making them anti social
i. This list can go on and on and on... never-ending consequences...

And who is the culprit here? Nope... the culprit is not the teachers. Yes, you got it right, it's the Government a.k.a. Education Ministry.

- MOE (Ministry of Education) did not allocate good salary for teachers thus causing good teachers to start tuition classes to make money.
- MOE hires stupid teachers and force parents of the innocent students to enrol them in tuition classes
- The education system, Examination Based System, is making every student and parent to fear that their examination results are bad and cannot enrol in any "good" universities
- And this list can also go on and on and on...

Point to ponder my dear friends... Have you ever heard of the children of our ministers that is in Local Universities? Even our very own ministers doubted their own... our country's... Education System.

Thanks for reading and Think Twice before you start to be proud of the Local Education Institution that you graduated from...

(16 Unhealthy Daily Activities)

!! Beware, content below is full of Chinese Characters !!

I saw this interesting article below when I was browsing the net. Surprisingly, there are many things that we always do that are... considered as "unhealthy".

Fold your blanket right after you wake up

Not eating Breakfast

Loosen your belt after meal

Sleep right after meal

Fill yourself too much

Sugar intake during empty stomach

Eating food that is too salty

Grow Beard

Sit with leg folded / lifted up

Looking at things with your eye lids half closed / Rubbing your eyes

Holding your bladder

Afternoon Nap

Sleeping Chest-down

Not washing your face before sleep

Not brushing teeth before sleep

Sleep too long / Over-sleeping

1st Anniversary

No...

- It is not my birthday
- It has nothing to do with me having a girlfriend for a year (In fact, I'm still single~)
- It's not my car (My Myvi is only 5 months old)

It is my 365th day as a staff in this company that I am working in (You will know what is the company name if you know where I work in). I am not suppose to reveal where I work in my blog due to some reasons. The FBI (Frantic Blog Investigator) is keeping their eyes on my blog... Haha~ Just kidding!

I cant believe that I have actually worked in Klang Valley for a year already! That is impressive huh? "Surviving" in a company that has helluva workload but lots of FUN for a year~? That is really awesome uh?

Well, I couldn't agree more with my ex-boss. Yes, she is my mentor (I have many mentors around) and I still remember what she said, "If you want to be successful, stay out from your comfort zone..." She even approved my application to attend a training that has everything to do with "Change". I must thank her for her support~! Thanks Dr. Sia~

Ok, tomorrow will be the 1st day of my 2nd year of work in Klang Valley... What do I feel? I am kinda numb now cos I am still having my running nose and it is hard to talk or sing or breathe with a stucked nose.

20th Day of the Month

Yes, today is the 20th day of the month and because today is my 1st Anniversary, I decided to reward myself by eating rice for both my meals today. I had rice for both my lunch and dinner.

So far, I have not been eating a lot of rice. It's like about 500g of rice only so far. Normally I can go up to 3 - 4 kg of rice for 2o days. That is a lot of cutting down uh?

Now, I dont feel as hungry as before and I dont eat as much as before. Maybe this diet affects my brain. Now, I am full by eating 70% of what I used to have for a meal.

Another 10 days to go and hope I can go ahead for another 30 days.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I found these pictures in sitting in my computer for so long, I didnt even realise they were there!

These are 3 cute little kittens back in my hometown. I took their pics last Chinese New Year (I think...)

What Card Are You?

I saw this interesting Tarot Card personality test thingy on my friend's blog.

So, I thought I tried it out... and it came out... almost as accurate

You are The Devil

Materiality. Material Force. Material temptation; sometimes obsession

The Devil is often a great card for business success; hard work and ambition.

Perhaps the most misunderstood of all the major arcana, the Devil is not really "Satan" at all, but Pan the half-goat nature god and/or Dionysius. These are gods of pleasure and abandon, of wild behavior and unbridled desires. This is a card about ambitions; it is also synonymous with temptation and addiction. On the flip side, however, the card can be a warning to someone who is too restrained, someone who never allows themselves to get passionate or messy or wild - or ambitious. This, too, is a form of enslavement. As a person, the Devil can stand for a man of money or erotic power, aggressive, controlling, or just persuasive. This is not to say a bad man, but certainly a powerful man who is hard to resist. The important thing is to remember that any chain is freely worn. In most cases, you are enslaved only because you allow it.

My Melody

Well... recently there are a lot of new songs on air. Especially new mandarin songs played on MyFM...

Other than the new ones, I also downloaded (oops.... dont catch me) some old songs, songs that are worth listening and songs that I have not obtain when the album release. Kinda like "back-ordered" songs. Many of the songs are very touching and some of them... very meaningful.

Some say that you can only appreciate the meaning of the lyric, if it happened to you before or to someone around you. Hmmm... not many people can appreciate lyrics. Some choose to see who is the lyric writer, some go for the singer. For me, irregardless of who is the lyric writer or singer, as long as the lyric is meaningful... I'm OK with it.

Some songs are lousy, in the sense that the lyric carries no meaning at all. They are just words that accompany the music.

There are a few songs that caught my attention... mainly mandarin songs...

and many more...

Ah? All sad song? Haha...

Another Weekend... Well Spent

Hmmm... I was chatting with my friend on MSN earlier and she asked me what have I done these 2 days. Come to think of it, it was a weekend... well spent.. Yes, money well spent!

Last weekend was really unproductive compared to yesterday and today. My friend and I went to meet up with someone that has to do with financial planning (keke...) and then we went to One Utama Shopping Centre cos I wanna get myself a pair of shoes for my coming event in September. I spent 3 hours browsing 3 - 4 shoe outlets and no results! I was choosing between Nike Cortez Basic Leather (White shoe with the Red Swoosh) and Nike Total 90 Shoot (Casual synthetic leather shoe).

Oh yeah, the reason I need a pair of new shoes is because the Adidas Sport Shoe that I got early last year, kinda not fit me anymore. Not that my feet has grown but I bought the wrong size, 0.5 unit size smaller. I have been "surviving" with my ONLY PAIR of working leather shoe, which I bought it beginning of last year. It was a Hush Puppies'

I got my left foot injured last week because I have been wearing those shoe for events, both setup and exact event. Due to long hours of walking and (try to) running... I got myself injured. So, to prevent myself from getting more injuries, I decided to allocate an amount of money for a new pair of shoes. Not the thing that I would do normally because I am very much a person that buy things that I need and not set priority on getting the things, that I only want.

I used to think that a new pair of shoes is something that I WANT... Now it has became something that I NEED. Therefore, I had to fork out money lo... I also WANT a blazer (suit, jacket or whatever you wanna call it) in which, one of my manager insisted that I should have one.

Well, I had planned to get that blazer (yeah, Im eyeing on one) if it wasn't for the leg injury which further made me buying a pair of new shoes. Looks like that blazer has to wait lah~

Oh, I bought a NIKE AIR... Black one and it is a Size 12 UK~! I'm so excited to see a Size 12 UK shoe in that pile of, discounted, shoes. I picked up that pair and I fell in love with it (of course, after looking at the price then...). Still, I was so indecisive and walked around to see if there is any other better bargain. In the end, I bought the very first pair that I picked. Love at First Sight uh?

Now I can't wait to wear it this Friday (Casual Day for my work place)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today is the 12th Day...

So far no rice... I had about 50g of rice yesterday at the mamak stall. Hmm... I was left with no choice though. Dinner I had noodles with my friend.

I also had Bee Hoon this afternoon for lunch at MidValley then dinner was Baked Beans cooked with sausages, meat, egg, onions and garlic. It is great to be accompanied with wholemeal bread!

Hmm... looks like it going fine but I think im going crazy as now... even for drinks, Im looking at the Nutrition Facts label before I buy them~!

18 days to go before I weight myself again. I dont think my weight is going to drop a lot, I think it would be a maximum of 2 kg? Haha...

Let's Be Fair..... Sure Or Not?

We always say, "Life is not fair!" and stuff like that most of the day. We say it when we meet difficulties or sometimes, when we are disappointed or just a cliche to relief ones mind.

We are all human, how can we be 100% fair? Follow the book all the time? I dont think so lah...

Let's see, now the DPM wants all races benefit from government fund.

"The practice of looking only after one’s own community should be discarded for the good of the country, the Deputy Prime Minister added.

“For example, allocations given to assemblymen from Umno are not to be shared with just bumiputras.

“We must distribute the amount in a fair and just manner to those of other parties, like the MCA, the MIC, Gerakan, the PPP and even the IPF (which is a non-coalition member)."

Adapted from http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2007/8/10/nation/18550531&sec=nation

So, what do you think? You think it will be possible? After staying so long in M'sia... Do you still think that it is possible?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today is the 11th Day

Thanks for all the comments from fellow blog readers! Today will be the 11th Day of my Low Carbo Diet month.

Yesterday I had rice for lunch. Yeah, I know I am not suppose to but I just have no choice. 2 days ago I had rice too but a small portion, even the shop owner was shocked when I only take such a small amount of rice. I had to take rice because there are just nothing else for me to choose.

So far, I had about 300g of cooked rice only... some bee hoon and noodles. I refrain myself from taking instant noodles and I did it! It's the 11th day and I have not had even 1 packet of instant noodle!

Wish me luck then... Hope I can stay like this for another 20 days!

So, now i am avoiding food like mee hoon, noodles and other food that has carbo. I am more detailed now cos now I read the Nutritional Facts before I buy certain food.

Hope my 30-day Low Carbo Diet will allow me to loose 5kg lah... Haha... Support me!

===================================================================
