Farewell 2005

well, this is the last few hours being here in Penang for the year 2005. I have to go back to Nilai and back in my work...

this 8-day holidays here in Bukit Mertajam really refreshed me. I have got chance to meet my old friends, bought a 29" TV for my parents, visit the doctor and came back with bad news, expensive medicine, made a few sales online, etc...

Christmas this year is like any other years before, went to the church and had dinner outside. I have to control my diet now.... Chinese New Year is coming.... great food... haha

gotta go now.... have to catch an early bus later...

hmm... got back from a friend's house today... In fact, I went to an old friend's house with one of my old friend as well....

kinda awkward when they all started to talk about travelling here and there... (The old friend of mine just came back from Sabah Trip)... Well, I sat there with them, listening to what they are saying... i tried to slot in one or two of my original jokes but only a few of them works... maybe the effect is not so promising as there are not many people there...

they talked about going to China, Pulau Redang (and the other islands) Sabah, Sarawak... bla bla bla... and the only 'pulau' that i have been to is Pulau Pinang and the furthest that I have been to is Johor Bahru (which i only stay in the hotel, only went out to have dinner and supper and it's a 2 days 1 night trip only...)

I was a bit quiet over the gathering this afternoon... so i went on to play some PS2 games with the host's little brother. I never had a Playstation before, yeah... altough I am tech-savvy, I dont own a Playstation...

Perhaps I really need to "go out" and travel... then i will have topics to talk (or at least pictures to show off) when I meet my friends again...

haha... well, it depends on my wallet ya...

okok.... it's tuesday....

well, come to think of it, all of us need testimonials... whether for a job interview, universities entries and even for matchmaking services!

there is a wonderful site called Friendster (http://www.friendster.com) that allows you to track, hunt and even "stalk" on your friends or some other strangers, conveniently.

I like the services offered by Friendster. You can send messages, send a 'smile', post pix, report anyone to the administrator... bla bla bla... most importantly , write testimonial for someone.

It sounds kinda ridiculous when Friendster actually limits the length of testimonial to 100 characters. Yes~! characters instead of words. But that is all for the best of the users. Some post testimonials that is very long (yeah, ive seen those that occupied the whole page). Some are short (which i find it even more ridiculous).

I have came across some testimonials in forms of "greetings" like, "how are you?", "miss you so much, what are you doing?" and such. "Happy Birthday"s are ok cos they are wishes from your friends but some took for granted that they mistook the testimonial service as 'chatroom' or 'chatterbox'.

A testimonial, according to www.dictionary.com, is a statement in support of a particular truth, fact, or claim or a written affirmation of another's character or worth; a personal recommendation or Something given in appreciation of a person's service or achievement; a tribute.

well, the worst part is, many of the testimonials are "Copied and Pasted" from some other sources. Now at least those "how are you?" testimonials are written from their heart.

You have heard of the word "mobile" which replace "mobile phone". You have also heard of many other words that represent other 'longer' words. Now, there is a new word that Friendster-ian used, "TESTI" for "testimonial". That sounds a bit awkward especially when "testimonials" became "TESTIS". For example, John said to Paul, "How many testis do you have in your Friendster?". That is absolutely hilarious~!

But then again, this is what makes Friendster so special that many other community websites like Hi5!, Multipy and such start to bloom. with 'almost' the same concept, they emerge very fast into the "World of Online Community" so fast that spams start to get in the way.

Alright, alright, im not so calculative about that. Actually my topic is just "The Testimonial" but i have dragged on to another level of discussion. haha...

Till then... Happy Holidays and Happy Friendster-ing

hmm... i need to get some rest now as it will be a long day tomorrow... gotta do some shopping and visit the doctor... im not sick but there is something under my foot that i wanna get rid off...

I am not good at updating blog.... but at least i still try to do so.. hahaha...

it's been (more than) a month since i last update this piece of xxxx.... *giggles* Many things had happened... I went for trainings... graduation ceremony... camps... gatherings and many more...

I attended my company's trainings. One on 12 Nov and another one on 19 Nov... I've learn many things. On the 19th, I attended the training with my colleagues from the same division. "Professionalism in Services" was the title of the training. We learnt about Customer Experience, Customer Relationship Management and many more...

My colleagues, Terence (the trainer in blue t shirt, sitting on the left) and I

Then there was the Graduation Ceremony. Kinda hectic as this time, we are hosting the biggest ceremony ever in the history of INTI College. a total of 900++ graduands attended the ceremony that lasted 2 days... 25 - 26 Nov.

Camps came along. There is this INTERACT Conference 2005 where i was held responsible for liaising with the organizers. 600++ INTERACTors participated in this 3 days 2 nights camp. I recalled when I was in secondary school... All i did was fooling around, never really joined any camps or activities... I felt kinda wasted, I've wasted my "childhood".. but then, I'm fine with it.. hahaha

We've just finish Basketball camp last Friday. It was also a 3 days 2 nights camp at our college. 50 participants came from all over Malaysia for this camp. They learnt a lot about basketball, physically and mentally.

INTI Alumni Gathering came by. It was held in Chilis located in Bangsar Shopping Centre... We had lots of fun talking, networking and making new friends... the food was marvellous and the environment was irresistable... :D

Well, Christmas is just around the corner. I'll be going back to my hometown (Bukit Mertajam, Penang) to celebrate with my family. Till then, Merry Christmas !

p/s: dont worry, i will still update my blog...
