Another Pizza Hut Story?

Ladies and Gentlemen, do you guys still remember the issue of Pizza Hut waiving service tax and government tax from the bill of Malay patrons?

The case turn out to be a hoax / rumour. The column "Race" is use as a market survey...

"They fast-food chain replied (promptly) that yes, they did undertake a market research survey to determine the profile of their customers. This, they said, was to enable them to better cater for the various taste-buds in the country."

So, the truth was revealed and the one that spread the news failed to create havoc. Muahaha...

But, there is a new case in Pizza Hut Bukit Mertajam (Yes, my hometown).

My family and I had dinner at Pizza Hut Bukit Mertajam (located beside The Summit Bukit Mertajam Plaza) on Chinese New Year's eve. We ordered the new pizza - Golden Happiness Cheesy Crown. The combo meal 2 comes with a large pizza, 4 bowls of soup, 1 plate of breadstix and 1 pitcher of 7Up Revive.

I asked for 5 glasses to be served as there were 5 of us. The staff said they only can give 4 glasses. Being someone that worked with F&B outlets and Hotels before, I demand for a 5th glass. The staff keep insisting on only 4. My dad said, "It's ok, we can do with 4 glasses". I kept quiet as I do not want to make a fuss.

The suddenly, my dad reminded me, "I thought the combo comes with 1 pitcher of revive. How come only 4 glasses?" I am definitely sure that 1 pitcher can serve more than 4 glasses. So we asked another staff and she got us a pitcher. The staff said that the male staff told her to only serve 4 glasses and not a pitcher.

Discrimination or plain stupid? It is so obvious that the picture of the pitcher was shown on the menu and he thought we will be stupid enough to settle with 4 glasses of drinks?

Besides, the salad bar was the most pathetic salad bar I have ever seen. There is a dead fly in the 1000 island dressing, and the empty coleslaw container was not refilled. I have to alert the staff to get it done and I purposely say it out loud about the fly, "Susah ni kalau saya ambik gambar lalat tu..." (Translated as, "It will be a big trouble if I took a picture of that fly")

So, plain stupid? The staff are jeopardizing the business and their own rice bowl, aren't they?
